key products.
- On behalf of a U.S. chemical company acquiring another chemical company, undertook an inspection and an analysis of several plant sites in the U.S. and Germany to determine the extent of compliance with FDA's
current Good Manufacturing Practices with respect to food additives, cosmetics, and bulk pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical intermediates.
- A large European company was considering establishing a business based on its fermentation process development and scale-up capabilities. An evaluation was made of the business potential and competitive
positions, and advice was provided concerning the directions the business should pursue.
- Discussion with a major European chemical company with interests in biotechnology revealed a complementarity between their interests and those of a mid-size American company, which the European company had
approached unsuccessfully. Based on my acquaintance with senior management and an analysis of the benefits of working together, a meeting was arranged at which the two groups discussed their mutual
interests.
- An evaluation was undertaken of the fermentation and downstream processing technology at a foreign manufacturer of pharmaceutical products. The aim was to identify competitive strengths and weaknesses and
to assist the company in increasing its manufacturing productivity for a number of processes.

process improvements were made.
