the issues led to a low-key solution to the satisfaction of all parties.
- Two large U.S. companies are collaborating
in the design, construction, and operation of
a world-scale fermentation facility for the
production of lactic acid and
derivatives. Candida is providing
consulting services relating to the
microorganisms, fermentation technology, and
recovery processes.
- A fermentation company undertook legal
action against a former executive believed to
have misappropriated proprietary information
relative to its technology. Candida
evaluated various documents containing the
information and provided a written opinion as
to what was or was not proprietary as opposed
to publicly available. Subsequently Dr.
Mateles was deposed on this matter.
- A large and diversified aerospace company was interested in considering various opportunities in biotechnology. A report was prepared analyzing a number of technologies and markets, and outlining possible
avenues including an analysis of how the opportunities fit the strengths of the company.
- Undertook the analysis and description of the manufacturing process and plant, quality control, and regulatory compliance in the production of a fermentation product by a large Japanese chemical company.
The project was undertaken to aid in defending a series of law suits filed against the company. Expert testimony has been provided for numerous depositions and several trials.
- Evaluated new process modifications for citric acid production for a European manufacturer. Analyzed their process versus competing processes in preparation for defense of a lawsuit alleging theft of trade
secrets. In addition, advice was provided regarding new methods of inoculum preparation.
