Candida
Corporation was established in 1978 to provide
consulting services in biotechnology,
fermentation technology, and applied microbiology
to the managements of companies producing
pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food ingredients, and
biopesticides.
Over the
course of time, based on the experience of
Candida's principal, Dr. R.I. Mateles, the areas
of consulting activity have expanded to include
crop protection technologies, both chemical and
biological; and the applications of recombinant
DNA technology in microbial and plant systems.
Most
consulting assignments involve strong
technological and business components, as well as
the inter-relationships of technology with patent
and regulatory issues. Based on broad experience
in industrial and academic institutions, Candida's
assignments often involve the evaluation of
research and development projects, programs, or
companies.
Clients,
of which many are located outside the United
States, include:
food
and food ingredient manufacturers
pharmaceutical manufacturers
manufacturers of specialty chemicals and
chemical intermediates
manufacturers of crop protection
chemicals and biopesticides
venture capital firms and private
investors
biotechnology companies and ventures
engineering and design companies
Although
most assignments are completed by Dr. Mateles
alone, when appropriate, Candida has partnered
with other firms bringing to the assignment
relevant knowledge and experience. Furthermore,
Candida Corporation has access to acknowledged
experts with experience in EPA and FDA
registrations and regulations; patent and
intellectual property law; process chemistry and
scale-up; and market research.
